BEHIND THE LENS

My name is Denise and I am an artist. I create using many different tools and mediums, but I'm never quite as satisfied as I am when when I'm behind the lens of a camera. My first camera was an old, broken, box style with a flip top viewer my grandmother gave me to play with. It was the coolest thing ever with dials and levers that made the best clicking sounds. I loved the way it felt in my hands and I carried it around with me everywhere, pretending to take pictures of every little thing.

Today digital cameras make it easy for almost anyone to take a great picture, but not everyone can capture the essence of who you are or visualize just the right scene.  My passion is art in photography.  Whether it's a portrait of a person at a milestone in their life, the stillness of a forest or a cupcake begging to be devoured - my passion is transforming the picture in front of me into the art I see and feel. ​
